Fiverr was one of the first places I started out with when I was almost desperate to make money off the Internet. I needed something to tell me that it was possible to easily and quickly make money online. I’m glad I took the leap. Within a day I had received several orders for my writing services, and in 2 weeks, I was loaded with orders to fulfill from Fiverr! It was a great feeling!
How does Fiverr work?
You sell a product or service on Fiverr as a Gig and people pay $5 for whatever your offer is. Note that if you decide to sell a product, you would have to consider logistical and shipping costs.
Some Fiverr ideas:
- Design services (logo, banner design, website design, etc)
- Photo-editing services (Cropping out a background, airbrush, removing imperfections like pimples, etc)
- Translation (great if you’re fluent in 2 languages. Translate English to Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, and more)
- Voice-overs
- Proof-reading
- Writing (short articles, headlines, resumes, etc)
- Bracelets
- Tarot card reading
- Giving advice on relationships, dogs, cats, health, etc
- Pebbles carved with someone’s name
- Videos singing happy birthday
- You can even help someone do his/her homework for $5!
One of my friends, Sam from Singapore Internet Marketers, sold reports on Fiverr. This is a great idea because it involves a one-time effort writing the report and you simply send a copy to everyone who orders it. Sam has supported and guided me so much along my Fiverr journey and I’m grateful for his generosity. Today, he also runs a Fiverr coaching program to help others earn money on Fiverr with $0.
I wrote 300-word SEO articles on Fiverr when I started out, as well as did some proof-reading and copyediting work. Eventually, I also wrote headlines for people for $5, which allowed me to upsell my writng services. It would usually go like this:
Customer: “Wow I love the headlines you wrote! Do you think you can write the article for me based on this headline?”
Me: “Sure! It will cost you an additional 5 Gigs.”
How much money can I make from Fiverr?
I would say that the possibilities are endless, and it really depends on the product or service that you sell, as well as how much time you put into it. If you treat your income on Fiverr as a business, you can even use it as a lead generation tool to promote other services, or cross promote your Gigs.

As for me… I managed to make $300-$400 in my first month on Fiverr, after which I quickly moved on to doing work OUTSIDE of Fiverr, because I was so encouraged by the possibility of earning much more online and most importantly… from the comfort of my own home with flexibility of time.

Is there something I should know about Fiverr?
Yes! Fiverr charges a fee for every successful sale you make, leaving you with $4 per Gig. On top of that, you are also charged for withdrawing money into your Paypal account or Payoneer card account. So, for every sale you make you get $3.92. Also, it takes 2 weeks for your sale proceeds to be ready for withdrawal into Paypal or Payoneer.
I know it sounds like very little, but A LOT of people are making good money off this platform.
If you’re desperate to make money online, Fiverr is one of the best ways to do it. If you are short on time, you may also want to consider how much time it would take you to fulfill a Gig order. If you’re like Sam who sold reports on Fiverr, it means a one-time work to write the report, and all you need to do is upload the file and hit the ‘Send’ button every time someone orders your Gig, which can be done in a minute. This is also similar to selling books on the Kindle platform, where you are paid anything from $0.35 for a $0.99 book that gets sold. (By the way, this can also add up to a few hundred dollars a month.)
Conclusion
Fiverr is one of the EASIEST ways to make your first dollar online. It gave me tons of motivation that it was possible to make money off the Internet and potentially build a steady flow of income each month. Today, even though I decided to stop selling services on Fiverr, it was a great starting and learning point for me. If you are starting out online and have no idea what to sell, Fiverr is a wonderful place to source for ideas and start offering your services.
